Haunted Locations
The following locations are genuine haunted locations, where we have done one or more paranormal investigations and were successful in collecting some type of evidence. Most of the evidence is available on this very website, if you know where to look! I'll give you a hint... ghostly photos, ghostly videos, and EVPs is a good place to start.
Although, we have done many investigations at other locations, they did not prove to be haunted. Of course, that doesn't mean that they are not. It is always wise to conduct more than one investigation at a supposed haunted location because what you don't get the first time around, might surprise you on another visit. This list shows those locations that according to our findings are indeed haunted. At each of the following locations we have either seen something paranormal, felt something paranormal, photographed/recorded apparitions or ghostly light orbs, or recorded EVPs. Several links follow indicating more lists that are available from different websites. The locations are listed alphabetically. |

El Morro
The above photos were taken during a couple of different trips to El Morro. The photos were taken by Xavier & Jason.
|
Name: El Morro
Other Names: Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Fort San Felipe del Morro, Morro Castle, Fort Brooke Location: Calle Del Morro/Calle Norzagaray, Old San Juan, PR Type: National Historic Landmark/Fortress Year Established: 1539 Year Closed: N/A Websites: http://www.nps.gov/state/pr/index.htm?program=all, http://www.nps.gov/saju/index.htm, http://www.nationalparks.org/explore-parks/san-juan-national-historic-site, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castillo_San_Felipe_del_Morro Contact Info: (787) 729-6960 9am-6pm |
History: The city of San Juan was founded in 1521. During its early existence it was constantly plagued by the threat of pirates, so when a chronicler named Oviedo suggested a fortress be built on the rocky headland, or the morro, at the west end of the San Juan inlet it seemed like the ideal place for the site of what would become El Morro. In 1539 defensive works were authorized and the first battery and tower were built. Construction would continue for more than 350 years. In 1589 a plan was approved to build a stronger fortification in that area. Engineer Juan Bautista Antonelli laid out a hornwork wall that stretched from north to south across the promontory, which would protect the headland against attack. By 1591 400 laborers began building the hornwork, which was named as such because it resembled the horns of a bull. The walls were made of limestone and tapiera, which is a mixture of rock, lime, and soil. At long last, El Morro finally began to take on the form of a citadel. After San Juan was invaded by British corsair, Sir Francis Drake, in 1595, and then temporarily occupied by Duke George Clifford, the Earl of Cumberland, only three years later beginning on July 1, 1598, the Spanish decided it was time to strengthen the fortifications and expand their defenses. In 1625 a Dutch fleet led by General Bowdon Hendrick captured El Morro laying siege to San Juan. They burned the city before eventually being driven off by the Spaniards. This disaster inspired the construction of a new defensive line, which was started in 1633. Over the next 150 years a system of massive thick walls were built around the city and reinforced by the construction of two new fortresses. The first was San Cristobal, which would be utilized to defend from land attacks. The other was the smaller San Juan de la Cruz, or El Cañuelo, built across the bay on the tiny Isla de Cabras in 1609, first as a wooden tower, and then as a stone fortress by 1664. However, the most massive fortifications were added later in the years 1765 and 1800. The forts suffered some damage in an earthquake that occurred in 1787. In 1843 the first lighthouse was built atop the fort. Puerto Rico remained under Spanish rule, until 1898 when it was handed over to the United States at the end of the Spanish-American War by the terms of the Treaty of Paris. A year later in 1899 the Department of the Navy rebuilt the lighthouse, but it had to be demolished by 1906 due to a crack in the structure. The current lighthouse was built in 1908 by the United States Navy. El Morro was used as an American military base during both world wars. It was renamed as Fort Brooke, until it was made into the San Juan National Historic Site in 1949. In 1961 it was handed over to the United States National Park Service to be used as a museum. Today El Morro, along with San Cristobal and El Cañuelo are part of a National Historic Site. On October 15, 1966 El Morro was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and on December 6, 1983 it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When visiting the forts, you only need pay a fee for one to access both El Morro and San Cristobal, although it is a separate fee to access Isla de Cabras. There is no public entry into El Cañuelo.
Reported Haunts: After all of the deaths caused by invasions, it is not unlikely to expect the spirits of dead soldiers to haunt this fort. It is said some of the towers along the water's edge are haunted.
Evidence Collected: Personal experiences by team members using a KII Meter, which gave intelligent responses.

Name: Hotel Monteleone
Other Names: N/A Location: 214 Royal Street, New Orleans, LA Type: Commercial Establishment/Luxury Hotel Year Established: 1886 Year Closed: N/A Website: www.HotelMonteleone.com Contact Info: (504) 523-3341 |
History: This hotel is the largest full-service hotel in the French Quarter, featuring 600 luxurious guestrooms and suites. Its traditional European-style guest rooms are carefully detailed and quite comforting. It is one of America’s few family-owned historic hotels and has played host to many celebrities, political dignitaries, and royalty. Located within walking-distance of some of New Orleans most famous attractions, the hotel is also conveniently located only 11 miles from the Louis Armstrong International Airport. The Hotel Monteleone was featured on the Travel Channel’s “Weird Travels” program in 2004 and has won multiple AAA Four Diamond awards and J.D. Power and Associates Upscale Hotel Awards for “An Outstanding Guest Experience.”
Reported Haunts: This fabulous hotel located in the French Quarter has documented over a dozen spirits, which the hotel claims are all friendly. Amongst these spirits is the hotel’s original owner and an engineer only identified as “Red.” The maker of the lobby’s Grandfather clock has been seen working on it both during the day and at night. William Wildemer was a former guest, who might have died in the hotel long ago. One guest reported seeing the apparition of a man wearing only a feathered mask appear in his room during Mardi Gras Season. The nude ghost turned around and disappeared right before his eyes. The spirit of a Jazz singer haunts another room and can sometimes be heard singing in the middle of the night. People have reported seeing a lost child, who asks for help and takes them by the hand. He then looks up into their eyes and disappears. Another child spirit belongs to a ten-year-old boy, who often plays hide-and-seek with another young spirit in the hallway on the 14th floor, which is technically the 13th floor. There is also the spirit of a star-crossed lover that haunts the hotel. Ghosts have also been spotted walking through the lobby, hallways, and the main entrance.
Evidence Collected: Photo of an apparition; EVP of a female on what should be the 13th floor, but is actually listed as the 14th floor.

History: Mary Virginia Wade, also known as “Gin,” “Ginnie,” or “Gennie” was a 20-year-old girl, who was killed on July 3, 1863 during the final day of the Battle of Gettysburg of the American Civil War by musket fire from outside that was most likely intended for soldiers of the Union Army that were in the house at the time. After the newspaper printed the story they misspelled her name as “Jennie” and the name stuck. She had been aiding Union soldiers and was shot in the kitchen, while baking bread. The home actually belonged to her sister, Georgia. The musket ball fired by a sniper of the Confederate Army went through the door leaving a hole that is still visible and struck Jennie in the back mortally wounding her. Union soldiers carried her bleeding body up the stairs and broke through a wall that led into the neighbor’s connecting house. Jennie was then carried down into their basement, where she died making her allegedly the only civilian casualty in Gettysburg during the American Civil War. A statue of Jennie Wade now stands in front of the house. The Jennie Wade House has been featured on popular shows like “Ghost Adventures” and “Ghost Lab.”
Reported Haunts: The spirit of Jennie Wade haunts the part of the house that belonged to her sister, while her father, James, haunts the part that was the neighbor’s basement. EVPs have been heard and captured, while people have been touched. There is also a male ghost that is said to be upstairs, who is accompanied by the faint smell of cigar smoke. There were high EMF readings taken on the second floor. Sometimes you can even smell bread being baked or a rose perfume.
Evidence Collected: Photo of an apparition; EVP recordings.

History: Originally opened as an annex to the Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn before it became a part of New York City, this hospital was meant to be a farming colony. It was established in a quiet little seaside village called St. Johnland, which was part of the Smithtown Township near the Nissequogue River and bordering the Long Island Sound at a picturesque bluff. The town would eventually take on the name Kings Park in reference to the hospital's origin and the town's park-like setting. In earlier times, the patients worked to help maintain this self-sufficient community through occupational therapy growing their own food, making their own clothing, and building anything else they required. The hospital even had its own railroad spur, which delivered supplies and visitors from out of town, and a vast underground tunnel system that connected most of the buildings. For a few years things went well and the hospital formed a very popular nursing school, which taught nursing students from all over the country. However, overcrowding quickly became an issue and more buildings were built to house the growing patient population. It became increasingly difficult for the staff to properly care for the growing number of patients. By 1895 the hospital was taken over by the state due to allegations of corruption and abuse. Over the years the patient population continued to soar until it reached approximately 10,000 patients drastically outnumbering the staff. In order to house all of its patients over 150 buildings were built, as the years went on. There were 5 building groups, another group dedicated to veterans, a dairy farm, piggery, a canal, boat basin, sewage treatment plant, and 3 separate power plants. Eventually, when the hospital closed its doors after over 110 years of service, most of its buildings were left abandoned. The half of the property north of St. Johnland Road was turned into the Nissequogue River State Park, while 3 buildings on the other half south of St. Johnland Road remained under control of the Office of Mental Health. Many of its patients were transferred to other hospitals like Pilgrim State, while some were simply released onto the streets. Although many buildings have been demolished, close to 50 remain abandoned and are constantly being trespassed upon by thrill seekers, ghost hunters, urban explorers, homeless vagrants, thieves, and vandals. There are also many camel crickets living down in the basements and tunnels. In the summer of 2012 a demolition project began that would eventually remove another 19 structures from the former hospital grounds. More were removed on the old Nissequogue River State Park side from 2015-2016. Reported Haunts: There are ghostly rumors of the underground tunnels being haunted by several former patients, who were allegedly killed by staff members after being tortured. One was a 17-year-old girl named Marie, who died as a result of electroshock therapy. The playing field is supposed to be haunted by a girl named Amanda and a black phantom dog. Apparitions have been seen inside of Buildings 7, 29, 93 and 136 along with ghostly voices that were heard. A gurney has been seen moving on its own inside of the basement of Building 93. Strange banging sounds are often heard in mostly every abandoned building on the property, but especially in Buildings 7, 15, 21, 22, 23, 93, and the quad buildings of Group 4. The spirit of Joseph, a former patient, haunts the old recreation center, Building 23. Children can sometimes be heard playing in the old playground of Group 2 and screams have been reported coming from within Wisteria House, or Building 15. One legend tells of a patient nicknamed Mary Hatchet, who killed her parents with an axe and after spending years at the hospital, was gunned down by police in an escape attempt. This legend has even led to a feature film entitled “Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet.” There are many such variations and tales of former patients, who haunt the hospital’s buildings and the surrounding grounds. Visitors to the abandoned Kings Park Psychiatric Center have complained of experiencing dizziness, distress, abandonment, a sensation of being watched, and a feeling of absolute terror. The hospital also had 3 separate cemeteries. The bodies from the first were relocated into a mass grave forming the second cemetery, so a high school could be built in place of the first cemetery. Photos with misty apparitions have been taken at this second cemetery, which used to have one single cross to represent all of the dead interred there. The third cemetery was established on the site of the grazing field for the old piggery, where an apparition was said to have chased several people out of the gate and down the road.
Evidence Collected: Multiple EVPs from Buildings 7, 23, 40, 41, 42, 43, 82, and 93; Photos of ghostly mist inside and in front of Building 93; Videos with unexplained music from inside of Building 136; Personal experiences of several team members inside of the buildings, throughout the grounds, and at Tiffany Field.

History: The hospital was named after William Pryor Letchworth, a humanitarian and philanthropist. Ever since it opened it was publicized as the model institution for the disabled. Since the beginning several principles were laid out and adhered to in order to ensure the utmost quality in care and they were as follows:
Reported Haunts: Apparitions have been seen and disembodied voices have been heard in and around the abandoned cottages that remain. Satanic rituals have also been taking place in a third floor corner room of the medical building, where a pentagram has been painted onto the floor.
Evidence Collected: EVPs from within one of the cottages and from the medical building; Photos of ghostly faces and apparitions from inside of a cottage & from behind the power plant; Video of an apparition moving across the third floor hallway of the medical building; Personal experiences of several team members.
- The separation of sexes by dividing the campus into 2 halves, cut by a stream that meanders through the grounds.
- No building would exceed two stories in height and they’d all have a maximum capacity of 70 patients. Basements could not to be used for any purpose other than storage in order to prevent overcrowding.
- Dormitories should be at least 200 feet apart to provide plenty of open space for playgrounds.
- Buildings were separated into groups divided by mental capacity and these groups should never come into contact with each other, but rather remain isolated enough to almost seem like separate institutions.
- The location of each building should take the natural beauty of its environment into consideration.

Other Names: Wayside Inn of Sudbury, Howe Tavern, Howe's Tavern of Sudbury, Howe's Place, Howe's Hotel, Red Horse Tavern Location: 72-76 Wayside Inn Road Sudbury, MA 01776-3224 Lot Number: 50 Type: House of Entertainment/Tavern/Hotel Year Built: 1707 Year Established as a Tavern: 1716 Year Destroyed by Fire: 1955 Year Reopened: 1958 Websites: www.Wayside.org, www.HoweTavern.com/ Contact Info: (978) 443-1776 |
History: Longfellow’s Wayside Inn was originally named Howe’s Tavern when it first opened in the 1700s. Located just a few miles west of Boston, it saw a lot of business in its days. David Howe was the first owner of the inn and it was passed on from generation to generation of Howe men. Each owner made new additions expanding the size of the inn, as business thrived. By 1897 the inn’s name was changed as a direct result of the writings of storyteller, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who wrote the famous book, “Tales from a Wayside Inn.” The hotel took on his name and the name of the inn from the story. In 1861 after the death of then owner, Lyman Howe, the hotel came into the hands of relatives, who ceased operations as an inn. Instead, it became a tavern with ballrooms that could be rented out for special occasions. From 1923-1945 it belonged to Henry Ford. In 1955, while the inn was under the management of the Lemon family, there was a devastating fire at the inn, which destroyed more than half of the structure and left the rest badly damaged. Only a portion of the original structure remains intact today. These days it still welcomes guests through its doors as both an inn and a tavern making it one of the oldest active inns in the country. One can still rent out its ballroom and dining rooms, as well. A gift shop can be found near the main check-in desk. Rooms 9 & 10 are isolated from the rest of the guest rooms, since they belonged to Lyman's beautiful sister, Jerusha Howe aka the Belle of Sudbury, and for a while were not a part of the inn. They survived the fire of 1955. Jerusha used room 9 as her bedroom and room 10 as a sewing room. Any guest who is lucky enough to rent out these rooms has the opportunity to join an elite secret society... The Secret Drawer Society. Scattered throughout both rooms are many hidden letters written for Jerusha, or to the other members of the SDS, as the society is known for short. Some letters give clues as to the whereabouts of a secret drawer, where a large stash of letters is hidden away. Other clues tell of a secret "trap door" that hides a special treasure. There are also quite a few letters that tell of various hidden treasures and gifts that have unfortunately been removed by other guests. To add to the lore we have left letters, as well, with each visit along with our contributions to the special treasure. The tradition of the letters has also been carried out throughout the decades in some of the other rooms, as well, especially room 8, where the letters date back to April of 1976. At one time, Henry Ford also used Jerusha's room as his own. Other structures near the inn, which are a part of the inn's property are the gristmill, a barn, gatehouse, an ice house, the Martha-Mary Chapel, and the Redstone schoolhouse.
Reported Haunts: Beginning in the 1990s reports began about the ghost of former resident Jerusha Howe haunting room #9, which was her old bedroom, and room #10, her old sewing room. Her lonely spirit has been known to lay in bed with men and touch them in hopes of replacing her lost love, a British sailor. Voices have been heard, EVPs recorded, and people have been touched. It is mostly male guests, who are accompanied by a female, that are often touched, hugged, or even kissed by what is probably Jerusha’s ghost. Jerusha was an avid lover of poetry and classical piano music and can sometimes be coaxed into showing herself by those means. An unknown male spirit haunts the hotel, as well. It is possibly Adam Howe, Jerusha's father and the former innkeeper, who died in 1840 at the age of 77. Another ghost is said to haunt the gift shop.
Evidence Collected: EVP recordings from Room #9 and from halls and public rooms on both floors. Music was recorded on video in Jerusha's room, while no music was playing at around 5 am.

Merchant's House Museum
The above photos were taken of the Merchant House Museum during our first visit there in 2008. The first 3 photos show the house from the outside. The rest are of the interior. You can see the staircase, where apparitions have been seen, a piano that has been heard playing on its own, and an old stove, which sometimes shakes for no apparent reason.

History: The Merchant’s House Museum is a unique historic survivor of Old New York. Serving as a home to a prosperous merchant family for almost 100 years, it still contains most of its original furniture, decorative objects, clothing, and personal memorabilia. It was owned by Seabury Tredwell, an importer of a hardware business located on Pearl Street near the South Street Seaport. In 1835 he and his wife, Eliza, moved their family of 7 children (2 boys and 5 girls) into the red-brick and white-marble row house located in the Bond Street Area near Washington Square just north of the rapidly growing New York City. Approximately 5 years after moving in an eighth child, Gertrude, was born in the house. As the city continued to grow and fashion changed, the their neighbors gradually abandoned the neighborhood for more elegant houses uptown, but the Tredwell family remained. Gertrude Tredwell never married and continued to live in the house until her death in an upstairs bedroom in 1933. The house was opened to the public, as a museum 3 years later by a relative. It is now a landmark.
Reported Haunts: Gertrude Tredwell is said to haunt the only place she knew as home. She has been seen on the staircase and at events. The piano, which belonged to her father Seabury Tredwell, has often been heard playing by itself and the antique cast-iron stove sometimes shakes for no reason. There have been numerous photos taken with orbs and strange lights or apparitions.
Evidence Collected: Photos with orbs, lights, and eerie reflections.

Morris-Jumel Mansion
The above photos were taken during 2 separate visits to the Morris-Jumel Mansion. The first photo of the second row was taken in a room, where we captured an apparition in the mirror holding a baby. In the center photo of the bottom row you can see Eliza Jumel, as portrayed in a painting.

History: It is a 4-story, well-preserved Southern-style Mansion with a balcony and a basement, which was built in 1765 by a British subject named Colonel Roger Morris, only 11 years before the American Revolutionary War of 1776. It is located at the corner of 160th Street and Edgecombe Avenue, which is in the highest point of Manhattan called Washington Heights, originally known as Harlem Heights. In 1776, General George Washington had his headquarters at the mansion during the Battle of Long Island. It was later taken back into British hands and a General Sir Henry Clinton stayed there temporarily. After the American Revolutionary War, the mansion changed hands several times and became rundown. At one point it was turned into a tavern and brothel, called Calumet Hall. In 1810 the fate of the mansion changed when Stephen Jumel, a French wine merchant, and his American wife fell in love with this then majestic fixer-upper. They immediately bought it along with the 35 acres of land that came with the property. Madam Eliza Jumel had a field day renovating and refurbishing the mansion and once again it became a showplace for the city of New York and surrounding areas. Today it is a museum open to the public by appointment, although the top floor and part of the basement are closed to the public. This location is a landmark.
Reported Haunts: At least 5 ghosts have resided here, mainly manifesting themselves on the second and third floors, as well as on the balcony.
1) On January 19, 1964 a group of school kids from P.S. 164 arrived just before 11am for a tour of the mansion. As they waited to be let in, they became restless and noisy. Suddenly, they saw a lady in a flimsy, purple gown, appear on the balcony above them, who told them, “Shut up!” in an effort to quiet and calm them down. She then went through the closed doors into the hall behind the balcony. When the Curator, Mrs. C, arrived to let them in, they asked her why the lady on the balcony didn’t open up the building to give the tour? Mrs. C told them there was no lady on the balcony. During the tour the children saw the portrait of Eliza Jumel and identified her as the lady they’d seen, and that’s when they realized it was a ghost that had been seen.
2) Visitors have felt the presences of Madam Jumel’s angry first husband, Stephen, and her second Husband, Aaron Burr, the 1-term Vice-President of the United States. It’s believed that Stephen’s ghost has been exorcized from the house, though, after a séance where he revealed that his own wife, Eliza, murdered him in France and made it look like an accidental death. She had been cheating on him with Aaron Burr, who she eventually married and divorced only after 3 years. Stephen Jumel is now at peace and no longer haunts the mansion due to 2 rescue séances conducted by Hans Holzer and medium, Ethel Johnson-Meyers. At these séances, Jumel was able to vent his anger at how he was murdered by his wife, who had pulled off his bandages after he had suffered a pitchfork accident, and thus resulted in his bleeding to death. After doing so, he went on his way to the other side.
3) The apparition of a young servant girl in great distress has been seen on the top floor, where the servants’ quarters were. She had jumped out the window to her death, after becoming romantically involved with a member of the Jumel family.
4) An enthusiastic, history-loving, children’s teacher, who had bounded up the stairs to the top floor, eager to see the mansion from top to bottom, fainted in fright when confronted by the ghost of a revolutionary soldier, who had stepped out of a painting. A second teacher saw this soldier on another occasion, as well.
5) Another teacher with a heart condition had a fatal heart attack after seeing an apparition.

History: Nestled amid the lush green hills of Westchester County, Mount Hope overlooks the historic and peaceful valleys of the Saw Mill River. Mount Hope is landscaped meticulously on behalf of its lot owners and a permanent maintenance fund supports the care of Mount Hope in perpetuity. Mount Hope is a non-sectarian cooperative association. A walk through here is a walk through history. Many who made the supreme sacrifice for their country now rest in the shadow of imperishable monuments and inspired architecture. Within the cemetery one can find the Spanish-American War Monument to the 71st NY Infantry Regiment, which is a historic memorial built in 1901 at the 71st NY Infantry Regiment burial plot. It is made of Quincy granite in the neoclassical style and has granite steps, iron double entrance doors, and a cupola at its top. A second set of steps was built in 1905. In 2011 the memorial was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The 71st Regiment National Guard of New York State and the Confederate Army Veterans are just a couple of the many interesting and important organizations whose legacy is etched indelibly into Mount Hope’s hallowed grounds. A 60-foot obelisk marks the largest burial site of Confederate Army Veterans and their families north of the Mason-Dixon Line. A walk through Mount Hope is also a walk through nature. More than 40 labeled species of trees, from red oak to American elm, line the cemetery’s darting hills and scenic pathways.

History: This 2-story house was built in the early 1960s and a deck was later added in the backyard along with an Olympic-sized swimming pool. A shed was also added to the backyard. The house was eventually sold and was later owned by a man named S. Palmaka, who sold it to the Medina family during the late fall/early winter of 2000. A second shed was later added to the side of the house and a fountain built towards the front. The house also consists of an attic, a basement, and a garage.
Reported Haunts: Whispers have been heard in the second floor bedroom and the feeling of someone else being on the bed has been felt in both that bedroom and the one below on the first floor. When sleeping in the first floor bedroom residents tend to have violent or scary nightmares. Sleep paralysis has also occurred. Those sensations mostly took place during the early 2000s when the ashes of Jason’s grandparents were temporarily kept in the garage. Once they were moved much of the incidents stopped. However, during the summer of 2008 a house guest saw a young blonde girl about 18 years of age walking out of the house and into the yard, and then up towards the pool area. Curious to see whom the young blonde girl was the guest walked up to the pool area, but the girl was gone. Strange dreams have occurred in the second floor bedroom involving a similar young woman with long light brown hair, who might be named Megan, or Marie K., according to a Ouija board session. Voices have been heard from the hall where the stairs are located between floors. Sometimes shadowy things are seen moving by quickly from the corner of your eyes. Numerous photos of orbs have been taken in the living room of the second floor and the EMF meter goes off in that same room near the wall by the windows facing the front of the house. Girls have also claimed to have been touched, while in this room by an unseen entity. Mysterious footsteps have also been heard on the second floor and people have been touched when no one else is around. There are times when you feel like you are not alone. One possible spirit of an elderly man in the living room on the second floor could be named Thomas, according to a psychic medium. Recently, things have been relatively peaceful.
Evidence Collected: EVP recordings; Photos and Videos of moving orbs; Personal experiences of several team members.

Name: Oakland Cemetery (and St. John's Burial Grounds)
Other Names: N/A Location: 2 Saw Mill River Road/Ashburton Avenue, Yonkers, NY Lot Number: 19 Type: Cemetery Year Established: 1866 (and 1783, respectively) Year Closed: N/A Website: http://www.OaklandCemeteryNY.com/Home.html Contact Info: Bill Watson Watson@Oaklandcemetery.net (914) 963-1077 / (914) 969-9788 – Fax Mon-Fri, 8:00am to 4:00pm / 9:00am to 3:00pm |
History: In 1866 Oakland Cemetery was added next to an older cemetery, originally used to bury soldiers from the American Revolutionary War operating under the name of St. John’s Burial Grounds. Established in 1783, the older cemetery belonged to St. John’s Parish. When the old burying grounds became crowded more land was added to form Oakland Cemetery. It was incorporated in 1875. In time, graves from the American Civil War also filled the cemeteries, as did those of other settlers of Yonkers who died. In 1927 14 acres on the eastern portion cemetery were sold to Westchester County for the construction of the Saw Mill River Parkway. The larger cemetery is separated by a hill into 2 halves, the western lower half and the eastern upper half. The Saw Mill River Parkway borders the eastern half, while the western half borders on Saw Mill River Road, where all of the entrances are located. There are 2 entrance gates that are large enough for a vehicle to enter through and one other smaller entrance gate for pedestrian visitors. Within the confines of the cemetery trespassers, who seem to take joy in knocking over tombstones, have vandalized many of the graves leaving constant chores for the caretaker. We've taken numerous photos of the damaged or toppled over tombstones. It is no surprise there are rumors of Oakland Cemetery being haunted. The spirits are probably pissed off!
Reported Haunts: Supposedly, 3 women in white are known to chase people out of the cemetery. It is said they were sisters. Another version claims they were gypsies. These spirits are believed to wander near the hill towards the middle of the cemetery. Maybe they are just trying to keep out those who would disturb their resting place. There have also been chills felt and a sensation of being watched or followed. Long ago, after part of the land was sold to Westchester County for the construction of the parkway, another female ghost was reported searching for her grave, which had been relocated.
Evidence Collected: A photograph of several misty apparitions; EVPs; Personal experiences of several team members.

History: This small rural cemetery was started by a group of local citizens that saw a need for a resting place for the community’s dead. It is non-sectarian and maintains its old style landscapes. Throughout the years the cemetery has adapted to the changes of its surrounding area. Nearby you can find the railroad tracks leading to a nearby station and the Saw Mill River Parkway runs parallel to the tracks and leads down to New York City. The cemetery has undergone a few changes over the years for the betterment of the community. A new section was developed for future burial plots with room for 2,700 graves on a sloping hill with open views.
Reported Haunts: This cemetery has been very productive in acquiring EVP recordings. Also, a door from a mausoleum was found opened after it was seen closed about an hour earlier.

History: Located at the northern end of Nepperhan Avenue in Yonkers this cemetery seems quite old. Like most cemeteries in Yonkers the gates close at about 4pm, but the cemetery can still be accessed after dark. Keep in mind that it is illegal to do so and you can be prosecuted for trespassing if you are caught. When this cemetery first opened it was actually located in the suburbs outside of Yonkers. When the city grew the cemetery became a part of it.
Reported Haunts: Apparitions have been photographed near the northeastern corner of the cemetery at Nepperhan Avenue. An apparition has also been seen walking along the top of the hill. Strange screaming sounds have been heard and captured as EVPs. Spirits have also touched people more than once and there are cobweb sensations felt, too. The electro magnetic activity is quite strong near the edge of the cemetery on Nepperhan Avenue particularly around a gravestones belonging to the Gagliardi family. There is also a strong possibility of recording some EVP in that same area, which seems to be a hotspot for this cemetery. During later investigations numerous EVP recordings were captured and multiple photos were taken of misty apparitions near the rear of one of the hills. So far this has to be the most haunted cemetery we've visited based on the quality and the amount of evidence collected.
Evidence Collected: Many EVP recordings have been collected here; Photos of apparitions have been taken; EMF readings are often high near certain areas of the cemetery; Personal experiences of several team members.

Shanley Hotel
The photos above were all taken during some of our investigations at the Shanley Hotel. The first photo shows the front of the hotel, which faces Main Street. In the second row of photos you can see the well, where Rosie died, the porch, and the attic. The last row of photos shows the coffee room, where all guests check in and meet with the owner. A piano in this room has been known to play on its own. The bordello, shown in the final photo, is accessed through the doorway at the end of this room. Between those photos is a photo of a chair on the third floor of the hotel, where a spirit claims ownership.

Other Names: Napanoch Hotel, Colonial Hotel, Hungerford’s Hotel, Hotel Shanley, Shanley House Location: 56 Main Street, Napanoch, NY Type: Commercial Establishment/Hotel Year Established: 1845 Year Burned: 1895 Year Rebuilt: 1895 Year Closed: 1991 Year Opened to the Public as Hotel: 2007 Websites: http://www.ShanleyHotel.com, http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Spirits-Are-Inn-at-Shanley-Hotel/167049780026367?v=info, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13efFZuOfDA&feature=colike Contact Info: bookings@theshanleyhotel.com (845) 217-3112 |

History: Thomas Rich first built the Shanley Hotel in 1845. It operated for several years under different owners until a fire in a nearby house spread and the hotel burned down to the foundation on March 18, 1895. It was rebuilt in September of 1895 on the same foundation and reopened by November of the same year. Throughout its many years it had over 20 owners, including its current namesake James Louis Shanley, who bought the hotel on October 1, 1906. After 1908 new additions were added, which included a bowling alley, a billiard room, and a barbershop. Many famous people have come and stayed as guests, such as former President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor, or Thomas Edison. Known as one of the most haunted places on the east coast, the Shanley Hotel consists of 35 rooms, hidden rooms and basements, secret passages inside of closets, and the ever-seductive and very haunted Bordello. The hotel closed on St. Patrick’s Day of 1991 and remained abandoned for years until Salvatore Nicosia purchased it in 2005. In 2007 they reopened it to the public after renovating most of it. Unfortunately, Sal passed away on July 5, 2016. The hotel was condemned and closed in December 2017, but is now under new ownership and management. The present owners are still in the process of renovating and restoring the hotel to the natural beauty of its earlier days.
Reported Haunts: Apparitions and ghostly orbs of light have been seen throughout the hotel. Voices have been heard and captured as EVPs by almost every paranormal investigative team that investigates the hotel. Footsteps have been heard and sometimes the piano plays on by itself. Objects have also been moved or balanced in awkward positions. The Bordello section of the house has been said to be the most haunted part of the hotel. When entering the Bordello, people have reported feeling light-headed, shortness of breath, heaviness, and over-whelming feelings of both joy and sadness. Many strange photos have been taken in this area, which include apparitions and other things that cannot be explained. According to Salvatore Nicosia, a current owner, he has seen men from the 1920s, women from 1890s, and people who appear to be from at least up to the 1960s. EVPs of spirits have been recorded and photos of orbs or full form apparitions have been taken. Doors open and shut on their own, footsteps can be heard all hours of the day and night, music and people talking in the old bar area are audible. Some of the spirits will interact with you and some just go about their daily haunts. Some might even push or poke you to get your attention. During an EVP recording when asked to a spirit, “Why are you still here?” the spirit replied, “It’s a hotel, isn’t it?” The ghosts of the main house are as follows:
ALFRED E. VOLCKMANN AKA THE BUTCHER – Alfred was a 19-year-old butcher, who frequented the hotel’s bar in the 1930s. Scotland Yard arrested him for the murder of a 9-year-old girl named Helen Glenn, who was the daughter of a preacher, Ernest Glenn. The incident occurred in June of 1935 and was covered by the Kingston Daily Freeman newspaper. Helen was missing for weeks before her body was discovered. She was laid to rest at the Cornwallville Cemetery in Greenville, NY. Alfred was sent to serve his sentence in the Death House of Sing Sing State Prison. As of late 2010 it became known that Alfred has been haunting the Shanley Hotel.
THE CARETAKER/MAINTENANCE MAN – He used to sneak around in the secret halls of the Bordello’s second floor and spy on the girls at work. He often stole items from the guests and hid them down in the basement, where he spent most of his time. Sometimes when things turn up missing at the hotel, he is usually to blame because the items are found near a chair left down in the basement for his spirit.
CLAIR – She was a former guest, who was pregnant. When her boyfriend refused to marry her, she hung herself on the third floor hallway of the original hotel, before it burned down and was rebuilt. Her apparition has been seen and her disembodied voice has been heard.
ESTHER ROWLEY FAUGHMAN – She was the sister to Beatrice Shanley, and was married to John Faughman. She haunts the room she shared with her husband and the connecting Sun Room. The rocking chair has been known to rock back and forth. In the Sun Room voices and the sound of a woman crying have been heard.
GROVER – Resided at the hotel during the 1950s, along with Oscar. Both of their spirits fight over whom gets the better mattress in the room formerly known as the Sesame Street Room. He sometimes goes to Marguerite’s room, too, where he enjoys crawling into the bed. Grover and Oscar’s names are both mentioned in the poem, “The Poor Man’s Club” written by Francis Colgin during the 1950s.
JAMES LOUIS SHANLEY – The former owner of the Shanley Hotel, who came from a successful family of hotel owners. He spent his last years living at the hotel’s main house. He still enjoys looking over his former hotel.
JOE – He was a hired gun, or hitman, who stayed at the hotel as a guest. He haunts a room on the third floor, where he has been known to sit on a chair of that room. He is a dominant spirit of the main house. He has admitted to Joe not being his real name claiming that by using his real name he would no longer be allowed to stay at the hotel. He insists that his room be painted blue. It currently sports blue wallpaper.
JOHN FAUGHMAN – He was married to Esther Faughman. Together they haunt the rooms they shared on the second floor.
JOHN POWERS – John was an associate of James Shanley, who was involved in the bootlegging business at the hotel during the 1930s. He supposedly haunts a room on the second floor, which was once called the Sesame Street Room.
JONATHAN AKA JON – Jon, as he prefers to be called, is believed to be a small 6-year-old boy, who died of severe head trauma after being struck by a car in front of the hotel. Although witnesses have stated Jonathan is actually 11 years old and not 6. He now haunts the rooms of the third floor. Toys and other objects have been known to move on their own or have been found balanced in odd positions. His footsteps and laughter can be heard from the private apartment below. His apparition has also been seen roaming about the third floor. According to one little girl, who said she's played with him, he wears a baseball cap.
MARGUERITE – Haunts her room on the second floor and has been known to pull the blanket off of the bed. An apparition was seen appearing from the ceiling of the same room. People's luggage have also been placed against the door to block it from opening and the door sometimes locks by itself. In her room voices have been heard calling out her name.
OSCAR – Resided at the hotel during the 1950s, along with Grover. Both of their spirits fight over whom gets the better mattress in the room formerly known as the Sesame Street Room. Their names are mentioned in the poem, “The Poor Man’s Club” written by Francis Colgin during the 1950s.
PAM – Two young women, who used to frequent the bar of the hotel, were found dead not too far from the hotel in 1974. One of them was named Pam. A psychic sensed a woman, who was covered in blood, to be in a blue room of the third floor. Could it be Pam?
SAL NICOSIA - Since the passing of the former owner, Salvatore Nicosia, some have seen and heard him at the hotel. I think my old friend is just checking up on the place he was happy to call home.
SARAH – She was a guest of the hotel, who was beaten to death in Room 25 located on the third floor.
SWEET THING – Cindy and Sal Nicosia had a cat that died at the hotel and its ghost has been seen in a corner room of the third floor near the doorway between 11pm and 11:30pm.
VINCE – A man has been seen sitting in the chair at the corner of the Blue Room, which was formerly known as the Honeymooner’s Suite. Footsteps and voices have been heard in here. Books have been thrown onto the floor and the bed has shaken for no reason. A young man, who was a former guest in this room, committed suicide at the hotel long ago.
WOMAN IN THE BATHROOM – There are rumors of a woman, who was found murdered in the bathtub of the second floor bathroom. Her murder was covered up to look like a suicide.
WOMAN IN WAITING – A woman awaits her husband’s return from WWII in the Silent Room, which was once a hospital room. The air conditioner turns on by itself when no one is in the room. This room was formerly known as the Soldier’s Room.
The ghosts of the Bordello are:
ANNA – Anna was a top earner at the Bordello, as one of the prostitutes. She was very beautiful and quite popular amongst the customers. It is believed that she haunts the first bedroom to the right on the second floor.
EMMA – Emma is said to haunt the main room of the Bordello’s second floor.
THE GUARDIAN – A spirit of the Gentlemen’s quarters, also known as the Forest Room, who watches over the room. Sometimes the beds of sleeping guests are shaken and they are asked who they are and told to leave.
THE MADAME – She still sits at her station on a seat between the first and second floor of the Bordello’s staircase waiting to collect money from gentlemen callers coming to see her girls.
MADDY – A former lady of the bordello, who haunts a corner bedroom of the second floor.
JEANETTE ROSANNA GREGER (GRECO) AKA ROSIE – She was the jovial 3-year-old daughter of Peter Gasper Greger, who opened up a barbershop on the first floor of the Shanley Hotel sometime after moving from Brooklyn in the early 1900s. On May 26, 1911 his youngest daughter, Rosie, tried to fetch water from the well that belonged to the Hoornbeek Farm across the road. She lifted up the wooden cover and accidentally fell into the well, hitting her head on a protruding rock, and then drowning. Her body was found approximately 2 hours later. Soon after her death, Peter returned to Brooklyn with his wife, Mary, and their other daughter, Florence. Rosie’s old bedroom was and still is located on the second floor of the Bordello facing the front with its window looking out across the street to the well that caused her untimely death. That part of the hotel was not used as a bordello during their time there. Instead, the rooms there were rented out to the employees. Since reopening as a hotel, Class 1 EVPs of Rosie’s innocent girlish voice have been captured numerous times giving intelligent responses in her bedroom speaking clearly, screaming, or laughing. Her footsteps have been heard running down the hall of the Bordello. In addition, her apparition has been photographed peeking from the curtains of the doorway leading into the Bordello. She has also manipulated the lights on a MEL-ATDD meter on cue. A few facts about Rosie: Her date of birth is January 24, 1908, originally mistaken to be November. Her name has been spelled as Roseanna Grager on numerous websites and according to a newspaper clipping that I have in my possession her father's name was Peter Grieger, while on a census report the family surname is Grager. However, according to the website Ancestry.com, a descendant officially lists her family name as Greger, or Greco. Incidentally, Rosie’s name has also been misspelled as Rosanna and Roseanne. Will she ever rest in peace or is she still enjoying her time as an eternal child guest of the hotel? Fortunately, after several years of research, I've finally found an actual photo of her on Ancestry.com, which you can see to the right. The photo was probably taken during her final months in 1911, prior to her untimely and gravely unfortunate death.

History: The village of Sleepy Hollow in its own is a wealth of history and intrigue, having gone through several name changes before taking on its current identity. It was once called Philipsburg, Beekmantown, and even North Tarrytown. The church, which is presumably the oldest church in New York, was built in 1685 on land that belonged to British loyalist Frederick Philipse. The first congregation was established in 1697 and was led by Domine Guiliam Bertholf. The church began its First Record Book in the year 1715 written in Dutch by church member Dirck Storm, who was buried at the burial ground a year later. By this time the Dutch burial ground around the church already existed. In fact, when Frederick Philipse first arrived in the area, there was already a small burial ground with at least 50 graves dating as far back as the 1640s with another Native American burial ground nearby. There were roughly 180 burials prior to the year 1700. These days the oldest remaining gravestone within the cemetery belongs to a little girl named Elizabeth Guion and dates back to 1755. However, the oldest marked grave is from 1711 belonging to Gregoris Storm, son of the previously mentioned Dirck Storm. His original stone was later replaced. Unfortunately, many of the oldest markers were made of wood and have decayed over the centuries. However, there are still quite a number of markers that were made with sandstone during the eighteenth century that can be found in the cemetery, especially near the church. There are 11 stones engraved in the Dutch language. The member register in the First Record Book ends in 1775. Ownership of the church and its surrounding lands was passed on to descendants of Frederick Philipse, until the time of the American Revolutionary War when Frederick Philipse III, who was also loyal to England, fled the country due to a pending Colonial victory. In 1779 he was charged in absentia with treason and his properties were confiscated and sold off by the New York State Commissioners of Forfeitures. In the year 1787 the church and its burial ground were sold to trustees representing the church’s congregation for ten shillings. The church consistory took control of the property a year later. A fire caused by lightning in 1837 damaged the church. A few changes were made during the repairs, which included a new entrance. Meanwhile, the congregation was temporarily left without a church. Therefore, a newer church was built in 1837, located further south of Sleepy Hollow on Broadway in Tarrytown. The name Sleepy Hollow, which basically meant quiet harbor, was taken from the story written by author Washington Irving, who wrote his tale “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” from 1819-1820. In 1849 Washington Irving actually helped to create a larger cemetery, which was named the Tarrytown Cemetery. At his request, it was renamed as the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, in accordance with his story. In 1851 the congregation of the church agreed to split into two parts with the First Reformed Church occupying the original church building. The second part was called the Second Reformed Church and they occupied a newer church. In 1854 the First Reformed Church were in need of more space, so they erected a new brick church, which was also located on Broadway, but in the town of Sleepy Hollow. When Washington Irving died his remains were laid to rest on a hill in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery on November 28 of 1859. By 1860 most local burials took place at this 100-acre cemetery. Other famous persons buried at the cemetery include Andrew Carnegie, Elizabeth Arden, Brooke Astor, Walter P. Chrysler, Samuel Gompers, and William Rockefeller. The History Research Society of the Tappan Zee published the first known map and recorded history of the cemetery in 1926. Between 1947 and 1953 an architect from Boston named William Perry led a major restoration project resulting in the restoration of 116 gravestones and a comprehensive survey of all markers up to the year 1860. It was in the year 1961 when the Old Dutch Church would be acknowledged for its historic value and be designated as a National Historic Landmark. By 1990 both congregations were reunited and formed the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns. Presently, the Old Dutch Church is still used for worship during the summertime and for special ceremonies and services throughout the year. The church and the cemetery are currently cared for by an organization called the Friends of the Old Dutch Church and Burying Ground, which is a nonprofit group started in 1985, originally called the Friends of the Old Dutch Burying Ground. They’ve been responsible for the cleaning and repairing of numerous old gravestones in the burying ground near the church. It wasn’t until 1996 when the village of North Tarrytown officially changed its name to Sleepy Hollow. The Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is considered a separate entity from the immediate surrounding burial ground of the church.
Reported Haunts: There is a grave belonging to a witch, which is unmarked, although a plaque located near the church makes mention of her existence; An apparition has been seen up in the belfry, which was once damaged by a fire caused by lightning; Of course, there is also the legendary headless Hessian horseman, who has been seen riding through the old burial ground of the church in search of his head, but that is just a story in a book... or is it?
Evidence Collected: Photos of apparitions; EVP recordings.

History: Native Americans once knew this area as Sunsquams. By the 17th century it was known as Samuel Ketcham’s Valley, named for a local resident. Sometime afterwards it became Sweet Hollow, although in 1854 Melville later replaced this name according to school records. The area had an abundance of honeybees and this might have been the origin of the name, Sweet Hollow. The cemetery was established in 1812, but it appears to have been a private plot for three families during its earliest times based on the oldest graves there. These graves belonged to three families: Baylis, Powell, and Jarvis, and are all located on the southern edge of the cemetery. As the years went on more of these family graves were added spreading out further in a northward direction. In 1948 the Northern State Parkway overpass bridge was built going over the road just north of the cemetery. In May of 2011, construction commenced for the replacement of the Northern State Parkway overpass bridge, where it crosses over Route 110. The project should be completed by the winter of either 2013 or 2014. Sweet Hollow Road travels through West Hills going both north and south connecting Route 110 up to Jericho Turnpike, while passing by a cemetery and beneath the Northern State Parkway overpass bridge in the process. After the overpass the road becomes very narrow, but is still open for two-way traffic making it very dangerous. Many accidents have occurred along the narrow stretch of the road. The southern portion of the road runs parallel to Mt. Misery Road, which is also said to be haunted.
Reported Haunts: In addition to unexplainable noises and ghostly orbs, there are so many different legends about this road that it is hard to ignore them, even if some seem beyond belief.
In the first tale, which takes place many years ago, 3 teenage boys committed suicide by hanging themselves off of the Northern State Parkway overpass bridge. It is said that when driving down the road, if you look up at the bridge you will see 3 bodies hanging there. There are no known town records of this alleged triple suicide.
The second urban legend of Sweet Hollow Road is about a bus full of children that was driving in snowy conditions on the Northern State Parkway overpass bridge The bus lost control and slipped off of the bridge killing everyone on board. Once, again, there are no known town records of this incident. There is another urban legend, which has to do with ghostly kids. Supposedly, back in the 1930s there was a day camp on Sweet Hollow Road. The kids that went there were abused and some of them were even killed. It is said while driving along Sweet Hollow Road at night you will see a group of kids in 1930s clothing walking on the side of the road, and then they just disappear. Some have been seen with glowing eyes.
At the point where Sweet Hollow Road passes through Half Hallow there is an open field. In this area along the road there have been sightings of a dark dog like creature that is digging, and then it stands upright on two legs and walks off into the woods disappearing from sight. Although this is the most rare of the stories, it is also the worst because the dog is said to be an evil “black dog of misery,” whose sighting usually means impending death.
Others have said that there is a man with a checkered shirt, who has been seen walking through the woods with an ax at night. He watches eerily, as the cars drive by.
There have also been stories about cultists, who dress in black and perform satanic rituals in the woods near the road.
At the Huntington section of the road 2 boys were hit by a car and killed many years ago. They were unaware of the approaching car because the driver did not beep the horn. Now when driving down this road, if you do not beep your horn before passing under the overpass, the boys sometimes jump out in front of your car. Another rumor about driving under the overpass states that if you place your car in neutral and turn off the lights it will be pushed uphill. These 2 rumors have been put to the test on several occasions with negative results.
There is a “ghoulish police officer” that has approached cars that are parked along Sweet Hollow Road. Sometimes he pulls them over with his car. The officer questions the people and seems normal until he turns around and has blood on his shoulders and the back of his head is missing. Supposedly, he is an officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty by a person with a shotgun in that area.
The “Lady in White,” also known as “Mary,” haunts the road, too. She was dating a jealous boyfriend, who believed she was cheating on him. While driving down Sweet Hollow Road, he pushed her out of his car. As she lay injured on the road, she was hit by another car. Now she continues to walk the road looking for her killer and often jumps out in front of passing vehicles. In another story Mary was a witch, who was hung near the road during the late 1600s. There are many twists to the story regarding who she actually was, but the “Witch Story” seems to be the most common. However, it is also the most unlikely. Another common story is that she was killed when a car hit her back in the 1920s, while walking home. Her grave is supposedly in the cemetery located on Sweet Hollow Road. The “Lady in White” is also supposed to be the same Mary from the “Mary’s Grave” urban legend, which tells of a mysterious old grave that has been lost to time. There are several different variations of the story, but the most common tells of a girl named Mary, who was the daughter of a rich landowner. He was a loner and built his house outside of town. He had a son, as well. Poor Mary had no friends, so her father built her a stone clubhouse on the property for her to play in. Mary liked animals and would play with them there. She was supposedly possessed by an evil spirit and started mutilating animals on a stone table in her clubhouse. Next she killed her father and brother with an axe. After a while the townspeople went to see what happened to the landowner and found Mary sleeping in her fathers bed with him covered in blood. They hung her from a tree located on the property. The very same tree is still there on the side of the road. It always looks dead all year long. The burn marks from her rope can still be found on the tree branch, where she was hung. Further up the hill is their house and sometimes you can see a figure sitting in the window looking down on the road. Part of the house is supposed to be blocked off, but Mary’s stone clubhouse is just a bit further up the road from it. During the 1960s and 1970s it was considered to be brave for one to go up to Mary’s grave and urinate on it. It is said that whomever did this would get into a car accident on the way back, after swerving to avoid hitting a girl in a white dress. The grave site has since been lost, or perhaps nobody really remembers where it is located.
One story for the cemetery is that one night the graves were all dug up, but by the next day they were all back to normal.

University Avenue Apartment
The top 3 photos show the front of the building, while the bottom photos were taken inside of the apartment in question during a random visit. As of this time no actual photographic evidence has been collected to prove that this apartment is haunted, although a proper investigation has yet to be conducted here.

History: The building was built during the early 1900s and has seen many tenants come and go.
Reported Haunts: It is rumored that a man once committed suicide in the living room of this third floor apartment. A strong feeling of evil has been felt in that room. The current family living there has experienced many happenings since living there. During the early 1990s a phone in the back bedroom used to ring every night at around 4:04am. The ringing had a kind of desperate strangled tone to it. One night after being unplugged from the wall it still rang anyway. Afterwards, the phone was disposed of and the late night calls ended. The tall shadowy figure of a man has been seen in the hall leading to that bedroom and where the bathroom is located. Sometimes only his eyes could be seen in the hallway late at night. A feeling of evil could be felt coming from that bedroom. A dog belonging to the owners of that apartment used to bark up at the walls for no reason, or so it seemed. The dog also seemed to be frightened when in that same bedroom. In addition the ghost of a Hispanic little girl was seen in the front bedroom of the apartment during the early 1990s, but it was believed to be the apartment owner’s niece who had died of a sickness around that time. That ghost has not been seen since. The male ghost only seems to make his appearance when there is a lot of anger in the apartment. During the summer of 2008 a computer in the living room turned off on its own at around 4:04am reminding the owners that they still had a presence in their home.

History: Originally established in 1864 as a private residential estate called Greystone, the park was first owned by a hat manufacturer named John Thomas Waring. He sold the estate in 1879 to Samuel Jones Tilden, who owned it until his death on August 4, 1886. Afterwards, this 13-acre park became the estate of Samuel Untermyer, a multimillionaire lawyer, who developed the fantastic picturesque Greek gardens during the early 1900s. It features a rock garden, Grecian garden, Grecian amphitheater, classical pavilion, pergola, and statuary. After he died, the property was willed to the City of Yonkers. It opened up as a park in 1946. The gazebo located near the Eagle's Nest once had two beautiful cascading waterfalls that flowed into a pool below, which led down the hill into a drainage pond above a small pump house. Another larger pump house located near the foot of the "1000 steps" was used for satanic rituals during the 1970s. By this time the park had fallen into deep disrepair with weeds growing out of the concrete. The ruins of the larger pump house became known as the Devil's Cave. It became infamous for alleged midnight black masses by cultists. The most famous participant of these satanic rituals was the serial killer named David Berkowitz aka "The Son of Sam" These masses were supposedly held at the gazebo. Sacrifices were also made. Sometime around the Christmas of 1976, several dead Alsatian dogs, with their ears carefully excised, were found on the Aqueduct just south of Untermyer Park. In November of 1979, a Westchester County Police Officer stumbled upon a sinister night mass in the Lenoir Nature Preserve, where he witnessed a group of robed hooded figures carrying torches and leading two leashed Alsatian dogs to their slaughter. There is also a gazebo in the Grecian Garden that once had a reflecting pool behind it, which is now empty. It was drained sometime during the 1990s. The park is now home to many deer.
Reported Haunts: An uneasy feeling of darkness and depression; disembodied voices, especially calling out for "mommy"; being touched; people dressed in black carrying torches at night. According to one medium, the ghost of a young Dutch girl haunts the area. It is said she was abducted by Native Americans, who once hunted on the land. They killed and ate her as a sacrifice to the moon. I once saw a photo of what looked like a small girl in a dress standing in the woods. Could it have been her?

History: The Upstairs Lounge was located on the second floor of a three-story building at the corner of Chartres and Iberville Streets. It only had one entrance, which was up a wooden flight of stairs accessible from an entrance on Iberville Street. Founded in Los Angeles in 1968, the Metropolitan Community Church was the first gay church in the United States. The Upstairs Lounge had recently served as the temporary home for the New Orleans congregation of the Metropolitan Community Church. Each Sunday the church would hold its services at the Upstairs Lounge, before finally moving their services to the pastor’s home by early June of 1973. On the night of Sunday, June 24, 1973, about 60 patrons filled the bar. They were mostly members of the church congregation. It was the final day of Gay Pride Weekend. At 7:56 pm someone rang the downstairs buzzer to gain entry. When the door was opened flames rushed into the bar area consuming everything in its path and trapping some patrons. The pastor, Reverend William R. Larsen, burned alive after getting stuck in the bars of a window in an ill-fated attempt to escape the fire. Others fled towards the rear of the location with the flames following closely behind. The bartender, Buddy Rasmussen, led some to safety out of an unmarked back door that led to an upper alleyway, which connected to the next-door building. The cause of the fire was a Molotov cocktail that had been thrown into the stairwell. The one responsible was never caught. It has been said someone was removed from the lounge earlier that night and may have returned seeking revenge. However, an anti-gay group claimed responsibility for the tragedy. Thirty-two victims lost their lives, as a result of the fire. At least four families were too ashamed to claim the bodies of their burned family members, which led to those four victims being buried at Potter’s Field. A memorial plaque was later placed on the sidewalk outside of the former entrance to the onetime lounge. The incident remains one of the largest mass murders of gay people in the country’s history. The former Upstairs Lounge is now a part of the Jimani, serving as office and storage space.
Reported Haunts: Employees of the Jimani have reported sometimes feeling like they are not alone, when they should be; electro-magnetic readings are higher than they should be in the main office, where the congregation once held its services; photos with orbs have been taken.
Evidence Collected: High EMF readings were received in the main office; _the temp pod was lit up hot in the same area of the office at the same time; several intelligent responses were heard in connection to the night of the fire, while using the Ovilus X.

History: Built on June 7, 1944 by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, the U.S.S. Torsk was launched on September 6, 1944 and commissioned on December 16th of the same year. The U.S.S. Torsk has the distinction of firing the last torpedo and sinking the last Japanese combatant ships of World War II on August 13 of 1945, as the “Cease fire” order went out to all U.S. forces on August 15. In 1962 the U.S.S. Torsk took part in the naval blockade of Cuba established by the United States during the Russian Cuban Missile Crisis. During this operation she sent boarding parties to inspect some of the Soviet merchant ships and as a result won the Navy Commendation Medal. She was decommissioned on March 4, 1968 and assigned to the U.S. Naval Reserve, as a training submarine at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. By that time she had made an impressive total of 11,884 dives. On September 26, 1972 the U.S.S. Torsk was docked at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and opened to the public as a museum. On January 14, 1986 she was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

History: It is rumored that there was once a cemetery in the area long before the houses in that neighborhood were built. Many of the houses were built during the 1920s or around that time frame, so it would have to be a very old cemetery. No actual evidence has been found to confirm this information at this time. The Morales family eventually moved out of the house.
Reported Haunts: During the early-mid 2000s there have been voices heard in the afternoon, banging noises in the kitchen late at night, orbs in photos, and knocking from inside the wall. Voices were heard coming from within the apartment as two residents arrived home to find their door unlocked. No one was inside, though, and all windows had been closed and locked. People have reported being touched, while in the bathroom. On April 23-24 at approximately 11:30am a loud bang against the wall was heard, and then soon afterwards two witnesses saw a large glass vase moving from a bedroom to the kitchen, where the second witness stood.
Evidence Collected: EVP recordings; Personal experiences of several former team members.
