There are 2 roads on central Long Island that run parallel to each other. Both have their share of mysterious haunted tales.
Mt. Misery used to lead to a hospital, which was burned long ago by an escaped patient named Mary... or so the story goes. Supposedly, you can still see the glowing ghosts of the burning victims. EVPs have been obtained by Long Island paranormal groups along this road. The road is currently blocked off about a mile before the location of the former hospital.
There is a cemetery located along Sweet Hollow Road, as well as a highway overpass, where many of the tales of intrigue take place. Rumor has it that if you flash your lights 3 times prior to going under the overpass, then you will see the ghosts of a group of teenagers that hung themselves there. Another urban legend indicates that if you place your car in neutral, while under the overpass, it will actually roll uphill. These 2 stories have yet to happen on the numerous times I've driven down the road and attempted to make them come true. There are many ghosts that are said to haunt Sweet Hollow Road ranging from a girl named Mary, to a psychotic looking lumber jack, to a police officer with the back of his head blown off. There is even the black dog of death, who causes the death of whoever is unlucky enough to lay eyes on this beast.
Do you have a tale to share regarding these roads? Better yet, can you verify the validity of any of these alleged hauntings?
