There will be a special guest speaker, Mina Crasson, who is a trustee of the Yonkers Historical Society. She should be speaking at approximately 2pm.
The featured discussion will be on the historic Oakland Cemetery, which is located at 2 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers, NY. This cemetery began as a resting place for casualties of the American Civil War.
Eventually, other local residents were also buried here. A few of its more prominent residents are Alexander Smith, founder of the Alexander Smith and Sons Carpet Company, his daughter, Eva Smith-Cochran, and Dr. Charles Leale, who performed on President Abraham Lincoln, after he was shot.
